Goldfields Track

The Goldfields Track – Ballarat to Bendigo The Goldfields Track or Great Dividing Trail extends from Mt Buninyong (hill above Ballarat) to Bendigo and stretches for about 210km.  Along the way it traverses a diversity of terrain and goes through the heart of Gold Rush Country providing you a rich insight to how things were when gold fever struck in the mid 1800’s.  You can walk or ride the track and it is well marked with some sections just for walking and arrows pointing were the bikes can go around.  If you choose to ride it, make sure you’re fit...

Murray to Mountains Rail Trail Ride

Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail Holiday time again and we were off to Victoria to explore.  We’d visited Beechworth a year ago and loved what little bit we saw of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail so this time wanted to ride it all.  Ride it all and do it Bikepacking and camping along the way.  I love this form of travelling…..something about it I find a little bit intrepid like.  Everything you want, you have to carry, and your camping, so getting away from it all, relaxing and playing cards.   All that, plus you get to use all the...

Bibbulmun Track

My sister and I have enjoyed many walks on the East Coast of Australia, but now it was time to visit the West.  We heard of this track called the Bibbulmun and thought that was for us.  At 1000km’s long we wondered which bit we should walk. The Bibb Track website was helpful, as was the “Highlights of the Bibb Track” tour. The section we chose was amazing and we where incredibly lucky to have fantastic weather.  We’d ordered the map book – The Southern Half, and with that we set off walking….not really sure what day we’d finish up in Albany but loving...

Wilson’s Promontory – Victoria Australia

We combined this walk with the Great Ocean Road Walk. A ferry ride and 2 overnight stays in Victoria on the way to Wilson’s Prom refreshed the spirit and our feet to once again get out there. This is the second overnight walk I took my sister on. Day 1 Yanakie to Roaring Meg Up early and saw the sun rise over Northern Wilson’s Promontory.  Got away at 8:10 from our digs for the night – Black Cockatoo Cottage which was a lovely place to stay.  Very pretty drive from entrance gate of Wilson’s Prom to Tidal River. Saw 4-5 emus and...

So here it is….our maiden adventure together on the Great Ocean Walk… the start of many, many more amazing times. Day 1  – Brisbane to Cape Otway Early start for our flight Virgin flight at 7:15 to Melbourne where we picked up our little Toyota Yaris and off we went driving along the Great Ocean Road to meet friends at Princetown and leave our car for a couple of days.  Nothing much to see in Princetown – Tavern and...
